It started with a dream and a bucket of blooms

We opened our doors in 2015 — founder Melissa Westcott and our in-house florist Amy, one small shop, and a belief that flowers say the things we sometimes can’t.

Moranbah had other ideas about how big it should get. Within six months people were asking us not just for bouquets but for whole events, and we said yes. Installations, weddings, birthdays, charity balls — if it needed flowers and a plan, we were in.

In 2024 we brought the best of our sister stores, Big On Shoes and Fox and Frank, in under the one roof. What came out the other side is the store you’ll walk into today: fresh flowers, boutique fashion, accessories and a gift wall we’re quietly very proud of.

Melissa’s story

Melissa Westcott founded Moranbah Blooms in 2015 and still runs it today. She is a florist, an event manager, a business owner and a Moranbah local, and she has spent the past decade building things this town needed rather than waiting for someone else to.

That instinct led somewhere unexpected. Frustrated by how much guesswork went into pricing floral work — and how many florists were quietly losing money on beautiful arrangements — Melissa built the software to fix it. Florist IQ was designed and developed right here in Moranbah, and it’s now used by florists to cost every stem, track every arrangement and price their work properly.

We built Florist IQ because we count every single stem. That means when you spend your money with us, you know exactly what you’re getting for it.

It’s a nerdy thing to be proud of, but it matters to you. Our arrangements are built to a recipe, costed to the stem and made to a standard — so a $95 bouquet is genuinely a $95 bouquet, every single time. You get what you paid for. No shrinking bunches, no guesswork.

A small team of locals

We’re a small crew, and we all live here. We deliver to your street, your kids’ school, your workmates on site. We know the difference between a “congratulations on the baby” bunch and a “we’re thinking of you” one, because chances are we know the family.

Our flowers come through our trusted buyer in Brisbane and are air-freighted straight to the store, so what lands in the fridge on a Tuesday is on your table looking gorgeous by Wednesday. We’re proud to be part of this community, and grateful to be the ones you call for the big moments and the small ones.
